London-based quartet Goat Girl have returned with their new single, ‘gossip’. The track was created during sessions for their previous album, and sees the band lean into their more electronic side. There are notes of Aphex Twin flowing through the crunchy, twisting, distorted beats that define the first half, with a change of pace halfway through leading towards a Gilla Band-inspired build, soaked in tense atmosphere and apocalyptic textures. They explain: “We wanted to lean into its electronic potential and do something quite different sonically. Lyrically, it uses natural imagery as a metaphor for contemplating hearsay and destructive behaviours.” It’s a cut that allows the band to explore a sound that wouldn’t fit into their sixteen-track 2024 album, Below The Waste; hopefully this noisy, destructive sound finds its way into their 2025 output. -Dan Peeke
